Jinja Cancer Treatments Centre

The Jinja Cancer Treatment Centre is a significant project that was initiated in 2011 by the Basoga community of California, spearheaded by President Monica K. Namukwana in collaboration with Dr. Okuku. This ambitious project aimed to renovate and furnish the Grade B Jinja Hospital, transforming it into a modern facility capable of providing essential cancer treatment services. The initial phase of the project saw remarkable progress, as the hospital was equipped with updated medical equipment and infrastructure, thereby improving the quality of healthcare available to the local population. The community-driven effort highlighted the strong commitment of the Basoga diaspora to give back to their homeland and address critical health challenges.

Despite the promising advancements made in the early years, the project encountered obstacles that slowed its progress around 2015. Recognizing the unfinished potential and the vital need for cancer treatment facilities in the region, Twegaite Global, in conjunction with Twegaite California, has taken decisive action to revive and rejuvenate the Jinja Cancer Treatment Centre project. This renewed initiative aims to restore the project’s momentum and achieve the original vision of a fully operational, state-of-the-art cancer treatment center. By leveraging the combined resources and expertise of both organizations, the project seeks to overcome previous challenges and bring about sustainable improvements in healthcare services.

Under the renewed leadership and commitment of Twegaite Global and Twegaite California, the project will focus on comprehensive upgrades and expansions. This includes acquiring advanced medical equipment, enhancing patient care facilities, and providing specialized training for healthcare professionals. The collaborative effort also aims to foster partnerships with international medical institutions and philanthropic organizations to ensure the project’s long-term success and sustainability. Ultimately, the revitalized Jinja Cancer Treatment Centre will not only serve as a beacon of hope for cancer patients in the region but also stand as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives and the enduring bond between the Basoga diaspora and their homeland.
